How To Create Bootable Windows 8 Usb Drive

It’s been quite some time since we have seen technology revolving around portability. A USB drive acts as a portable medium for storing noticeable memory and as such a portable and a bootable windows  8 USB drive gives you a flexible availability of an operating system on your reach. Well most of the systems coming through in today’s age lack optical drives so it would be quite a wise decision to go on and use a bootable USB drive to install Windows 8 onto your system.

To create a bootable windows 8 USB drive we need to incur some requirements which happen to be:
  1. A flash (USB) drive bearing a capacity of 4 GB or more than that.
  2. A Windows 8 DVD or Windows ISO file which acts as the source which has to be transferred.
  3. If you consider having windows 8 DVD then you need an optical DVD drive in your computer but if you go onto have an ISO file then a USB port will work well.
Note: If you have a windows 8 DVD then you may proceed doing this procedure from the very first step, but if you have an ISO file then you need to go on from the second step.

Procedure:
  • First we have to create a windows ISO file from the windows 8 DVD. This ISO file contains all the data which needs to be transfer into the usb drive to create a bootable one. There are many tools to create an ISO file from a DVD; you can use any of them. My suggestion is, you can use Magic ISO.
  • After you have created the required ISO file, you need to download the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool from the Microsoft Website and install it onto your computer. Windows xp users need image mastering api v2 to use this software.

  • After installing it start the download tool by looking for it either in the start menu or the shortcut icon on the desktop.
  • When the tool utility will open up it will ask you for the path of your ISO file. By clicking onto browse you will have to locate the ISO file in the computer. This location has to be the path associated with your ISO files destination.

  • After selecting the ISO file you can click onto next which takes this utility onto a next step.
  • The next step is to select the media we wish to use, as we are going to make a bootable USB drive so the type of media has to be USB. There is an option to keep DVD as the media too which implies that you can make a bootable DVD too through this application but for now we have to go through the USB process.

  • After selecting the media you need to erase all the contents present in the flash drive by pressing erase USB drive. This will format the USB drive and make it free to be used particularly from this process.

  • When you will click next the utility will show you a tagline “creating bootable drive, just wait for the Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool to prepare the drive and copy the Windows 8 installation files to it”.

  • The download tool will start formatting the drive, after that it will start copying the contents and as soon as this will be completed you will come across a labeled line that Bootable USB drive created successfully. If t\all the steps would have been incurred properly a Bootable USB drive would be ready to be operated.
This completes the process and your bootable windows 8 Usb Drive is made and prepared to be used as an installation media. Now you simply have to boot your computer through the USB drive and you would be easily able to install new windows on your computer. The maximum time period to install Windows 8 is almost 20-30 minutes with great ease.

Step By Step – Adding Video To Wikipedia

Step By Step – Adding Video To Wikipedia

Adding video, audio or images to wikipedia.org can have a two fold effect on your marketing.
It can be used for either getting quality backlinks to your own content or to hijack traffic from wikipedia.

The quality of the content has to fit in with the article you want to add your multi media content to though. The admins within wikipedia are very quick to delete content they think is not relevant or does not fit with the article or the section of the article.

So the first thing you need to do is choose between what form of multi media you want to add.

Here are the three options we have:

Images:
This is not new, images have been on wikipedia.org for a long time. I found personally the best way to do this was by adding local images of a library, an underground station and adding these images first to my own local seo site and then adding to commons.wikimedia.org and then from there adding them into wikipedia.org in a relevant page about my locality with the file source leading back to the page on my site that the image came from. I found this particularly useful if linking to a content page and I would subtly add some info about a free video training course or a free consultation.

Video:
This is very new! This gives us a huge opportunity as there are millions of articles on wikipedia and very few of them have video! Its possible to add video you have on sites like youtube and flickr and its also OK to add video from your own site as long as you own the rights to that video. Now we have some options within these options...If using your youtube channel then you can link to your channel, your video URL or you can use your name and link that to anywhere really as long as its to your own stuff on the web. Linking to a google+ profile might be the best way of doing this and it needs to be tested, especially if you are syndicating your youtube channel content to Google+ which can be done by using ifttt.com and in the hootesuite account you link to ifttt.com then make sure you have google+ activated :)

Audio:
This is another great opportunity especially if you are doing podcasting or curating articles via audio. What you can do here if not, is use content that is freely available as public domain licensed content...for example martin Luther King speech but also link your name to your own content with your name being the vehicle for anchor text to your chosen web page, I would think that linking to your Google+ profile would be acceptable for the wikipedia.org admins!

There are a couple caveats though!
  • Your wikipedia.org user account must be more than 4 days old for video and audio.
  • You must have made at least 10 article edits before being allowed to add video and audio.
  • You cannot add How To Videos... (been there...tried it ...got deleted very fast!)
OK so to add multimedia to wikipedia.org here are the steps needed.

For video (and I think audio but never used audio myself) follow the steps below...
  1. Take a video of something that is relevant to a wikipedia.org article and that you know does not have a video in the section you want to add a video to.
  2. Go to firefogg.org and convert your video file to ogg theora file type (.ovg) and save on your desktop or a folder where you can easily find it.
  3. Go to commons.wikimedia.org and click on the left hand side link that says “Uploads
  4. You will be presented with a wizard, close the first screen and click on next and follow the wizard along to upload your ogg theora video file (.OVG)
  5. Next you will be asked for the rights you have to add this content to wikipedia.org, this is why its best to use your own videos that you created. I choose the first option that this is my own work.
  6. Next it will ask you to add a description, at this point you can simply add more info. and build out the Title into a description. Stick to what your content is about and do not use anything related to affiliate marketing, keep it factual.
  7. Next you will be given a code that you can use on a wiki page. It will look something like this... [[File:Northern Thailand Cuisine Fried Insects At Market Stall in The Floating Market Pattaya, Thailand.ogv|thumb|Northern Thailand Cuisine Fried Insects At Market Stall in The Floating Market Pattaya, Thailand]]
  8. Next go to the wikipedia.org web page and then to the section that you want to edit and click on the edit link directly parallel to the section heading and it will open up the edit section, add your code to the bottom and click preview first to check and if you see your video appear when in preview mode, then you can click save and you are done as far as adding a video to wikipedia.org.
  9. We are not finished yet though, we want to add a clickable link directly from wikipedia.org to your own web page on the web. This can be a Youtube Channel, Google + Profile, Website etc.... So we go back to commons.wikimedia.org and we click at the top where it says contributions. From here we scroll down and find the video file we just uploaded and click on the first edit link you see on the right hand side as you scroll under the video (The video will show on the page)
  10. OK now that we have entered the edit area we have two choices. First we can add a hyperlink to where your name is or we can add a hyperlink to a keyword in the description or we can add hyperlink to where it says file source Own...I have done both with where it says file source own and also where my user name/author name is. I recommend you use your author name. This is done via the hyperlink icon in the edit page which becomes a WYSYWYG editor with toolbar at the top of the edit section. Once you have added your link simply save and then go back and refresh you wikipedia.org page and check that the hyperlink is there.

That's all there is to it but this can be simplified by using the Wikipedia Video Submitter which is available by registering at my Traffic Academy membership site. It has a free membership level and a premium membership level but the free is more than enough for you to check out some of my other work, video training and software.  Click on this link http://traffic-academy.kissim.org/register and you will be taken to the registration page where you can then go into the membership and access the wikipedia video submitter.

How To Manage Lock Screen In Windows 8

“Windows 8” the latest operating system launched few months ago. It is loaded with attractive features like UEFI interface, Hybrid boot, Windows to go etc. Microsoft has introduced lot of changes in the Lock Screen. The concept of Lock screen is devised show a state when computer is not used. Lock screen was also used in the previous version of windows operating system but in Windows 8 OS Lock screen is revived to extent beyond expectation. The concept of Lock screen introduced in Windows 8 looks to be inspired from Smartphone’s. Lock screen is generated in a computer when a user locks his/her computer, restart it or wake up from sleep state.

Basic Lock screen contains the following information:
  • Lock Screen Background Image.
  • Today’s Date with time.
  • Current status of available network and Battery status.
Apart from this information Windows 8 allows to place apps on your lock screen. A user can place maximum of seven apps on the screen. For instance you can place or you can active your webmail service app on your Lock screen which shows unread message or update you when new mail is received. So, you can place all such Apps which you use on regular basis.

Windows 8: How To Eliminate Shut Down Problem

Windows 8 latest operating system launched by Microsoft known for its Modern UEFI interface, windows defender with antivirus program, snap multitasking and instant start shutdown process. Windows 8 has offered ease of use and simplified computing. Most of the people have switched from windows 7 to Windows 8 or some of them are planning to switch. But there are some issue which must be root out otherwise it remain issue of concern. Most of the user who has installed Windows 8 preview on their computer is suffering from windows 8 shut down problem. It is noticed that when you shutdown windows 8 computer then it's display goes off but still the power is on and computer still consumes energy and if you are working on a laptop then after sometime your battery will drains out.

A new feature known as “Hybrid sleep” is introduced with windows 8. Most of you are aware of Hibernate and sleep feature of windows operating system. They all are designed to reduce the power consumption of computer during idle period. Hybrid sleep is the combination of Sleep and Hibernate which saves a copy of your opened docs & Settings on both RAM as well as on your hard drive and switch to minimum power consumption state so that all programs can be launched quickly when user resumes his work. If power failure occurs then it will not let user to loose his important work and launch all running application from computer hard drive. By default this is enabled in windows 8.

But most of you are not aware of Hybrid Sleep which is the cause of this problem. Hybrid sleep is developed to reduce the windows booting and shutdown time. Windows 8 reducing the startup time by saving data pertaining to kernel session on the hard drive instead of closing it properly. Resuming work from hibernated state for computer is more tedious in comparison of full system initialization process.  To get rid of the problem you have to follow the procedure mentioned below,

Steps To Follow:
  1. If you are on the Start screen then move your cursor to top right corner of screen to trigger charms Bar. Then Click on the Search option.
  2. Then Type Power in the search box and press the enter key to search, then your computer will automatically search for the text and show the results.

How To Immune Your Data with Hard Disk Password

How To Immune Your Data with Hard Disk Password

How well do you know about your Hard Disk? Probably you would count the list of things in your Hard Disk, but what does your Hard Disk does for you? Then probably you are not aware of the hardware password capability in it. All most only a less percentage of the users know about this hardware password capability, as a matter of fact all the hard disks display this feature. Also it’s necessary to understand that where are they stored and how do they work? So the answer is that this password is usually stored both in a chip on the HD controller (the printed circuit board on the hard disk) and on the hard disk itself in a special hidden sector.

And in case you set this password then this will land you in completely disabling your hard disk for anybody who doesn’t know your password. In short you ever happen to loose the hard disk then your data is all safe, and even if not this then it simply works out as a pure phenomenon of security. And the best part is that this password isn’t restricted to your system only rather the hard disk becomes unusable on all the computers.

Also now the laptop makers are taking full of this facility and that is the only reason that the newer laptops will set the HD password together with the BIOS password, completely locking all the hardware.

And to speak more about the password then all the hard disk manufacturers lack to have a master password so that they can unlock hard disk. Also it is clear that even swapping the controller of the password-protected hard disk with exactly the same controller from an unprotected HD will not remove the protection on most disks, as the password (together with most of the firmware) is also stored on the hard disk itself.

And in case you are really struck up in a situation where you wish to open a password protected hard disk but somehow you are unable to do it, then you are left with only one situation i.e. to send the hard disk to the data recovery company for unlocking, but not all data recovery companies could or would unlock a password protected HD.

And I really believe that in today’s age when none of your files are safe enough to secure your files and that too when many hackers have a proficiency in identity theft. Also it’s true that the downside is that when the HD eventually malfunctions it will be harder or even impossible to retrieve any files from it. So when you are starting to use a system then in that case my first suggestion would be that you should secure your data with a back-up.

How To Create Virtual Hard Disk?

VHD is the acronym of Virtual Hard Disk. VHDs are also used as virtual machine which is used for determining the response of a particular system. VHD is virtual partition created on the system hard drive for the purpose of simulating multiple operating systems on a single machine. It depicts the similar characteristics as displayed by the system hard drive and possesses partition & file system like normal hard drive. In this article I will tell “How you can create VHD in few easy steps“.

You can perform the following task by using VHD:
  • Install/Uninstall software.
  • Data migration between the VHD and system drives.
  • Image, Backup and Restore.
  • Disk conversion (virtual to ordinary or vice versa).

You must need admin privileges or you must know Admin password to make the desired changes. For creating a Virtual hard drive on a computer you have to follow the steps mentioned below as,

Procedure for creating the virtual hard drive:

  1. Click on the Start button and make a right click on the My computer option available in the Start menu.
  2. From the context menu you have to select Manage, this action will open a Disk Management on your computer screen.
  3. You can also use alternative method for opening Disk Management. Click on the Start button and in the Start Search box type “dskmgmt.msc” without quotes and press Enter Key form the keyboard, this action will open Disk Management on your computer screen.
  4. In the Computer management window select Disk Management and from the menu bar select “Action”. Then a drop down list of option appears on your screen and you have to select “Create VHD”.
  5. Then a new window will appears on your screen in which you have to select the desired location where you want to create VHD and the amount of memory you want to assign it.
  6. In the bottom half of window you have to select the VHD format. Two types of Format available are: Dynamic and Fix. In Dynamic mode space allotted by computer depends upon the amount of data you store in the VHD and the disk space does not compact automatically when data is not deleted. But in the case of Fix mode a certain amount of space is allocated to the VHD for data storage. You can see the virtual drive listed as unallocated space in the disk management space.
  7. Make a right click on the Virtual dive and select initialize disk then fill the check box for making it accessible to Logical Disk Manager.
  8. Now select the partition style for virtual drive to be created. You have two choices MBR (Master Boot Record) and GPT (GUID Partition Table). It is recommended to choose MBR as GPT is not recognized by the previous version of Windows.
  9. Create a volume for VHD by making a right click on the unallocated space and select New Simple Volume. Now follow the instruction and after completion of New Simple Volume wizard, then click on ‘Finish’ to complete the wizard.
  10. After completion of wizard you can see your virtual drive in disk management, windows explorer and My computer.
Windows 7 even allow additional feature of Encryption and Compression to apply on VHD. You can even make bootable VHD. Thus VHD offers a better option for users and suffice their needs.

How To Fix Problems In Windows 7

Microsoft's Windows 7's knack for running without problems is a testament to it's stability.  Even Though it has a good reputation, problems do occur. Solving common Win7 problems requires Some basic troubleshooting, but most of these problems have relatively easy solutions that can Get you back to your regular computing activities in no time.

The screen is black when you start Win7:

Solution:  This panic inducing problem is often attributed to minor problems with your graphics Card or the cable that connects it to the monitor. First, check that your monitor is plugged into A power socket and that the monitor cable (either Video Graphics Array (VGA) or Digital Visual Interface (DVI)) is firmly connected to both the monitor and your computer's graphics Port. If the monitor flickers when moving the cable, there might be a problem with the cable Itself, so try a replacement cable if you have one.

Another possibility is that your graphics card's drivers need to be updated (this is particularly Likely if you just installed Win7 and are booting into the operating system for the first time).  Restart your computer and press the ‘F8' key during the boot process. When the ‘Advanced Boot Options' screen appears, use the arrow keys to highlight ‘Enable Low Resolution Video (640x480)', press ‘Enter', and wait for Win7 to start. When it does, visit your graphics Card manufacturer's Web site and download the latest drivers for your card. Install the drivers And restart Win7. If your computer has integrated graphics instead of a discrete graphics Card, use ‘Windows Update' (click ‘Start', click ‘All Programs', and click ‘Windows Update') to obtain the most recent drivers.

When upgrading from Vista, the Win7 installation process stops at 62%:

Solution:  Win7 can hang at various points during the installation process for different reasons, But one problem occurs more often than others. If your installation stops at precisely 62%, it's Likely because a service has stopped responding. To fix the problem, restart your computer And let it roll back to Vista. Once you're back in Vista, click ‘START', right click ‘COMPUTER' And click ‘PROPERTIES', Select ‘Advanced System Settings on the left menu. Choose the ‘Advanced' tab, click ‘Environment Variables', and click the ‘New' button under ‘System Variables'.

Next, type ‘MIG_UPGRADE_IGNORE_PLUGINS' in the ‘Variable Name' field, type ‘IphlpsvcMigPlugin.dll' in the ‘Varible Value' field, and then click ‘OK'. Click ‘OK' to close the ‘Environment Variables box, click ‘OK' to close the ‘System Properties' box, and then shut down your computer. Repeat the Win7 upgrade process.

You're unable to join a homegroup:

Solution:   Win7 has eased the home networking process through its use of homegroups, which Help automate network creation. However, if you're unable to join a homegroup on your Network, first make sure that a homegroup actually exists. If the homegroup was created On another computer, check to make sure the homegroup has been created on that computer And that it is turned on. After verifying that the homegroup does exist, check that you're Connected to the network by clicking the Network icon in your Taskbar. If you're not, click ‘Start'. Open the ‘Control Panel', click ‘Network' and ‘Internet', and open the ‘Network and Sharing Center'. Click ‘Connect To A Network' and follow the instructions to  connect to your Local network.

If you're still unable to connect to the homegroup, make sure your network location is set to ‘Home' by opening the ‘Network And Sharing Center', clicking ‘Public Network' (or ‘Work Network'), and then clicking ‘Home Network'. You can also check to see if ‘Network Discovery' is turned off, which would prevent you from accessing the home network. In the Left panel of the ‘Network And Sharing Center', click ‘Change Advanced Sharing Settings', Click the ‘Down' arrow button to expand the ‘Home Or Work' profile, and select the ‘Turn On Network Discovery' radio button. Click ‘Save Changes' when finished.

If you're still having problems, make sure the required homegroup-related services are Running. Click ‘Start', open the ‘Control Panel', select ‘System And Security', select ‘Administrative Tools', and double click ‘Services' (You may be prompted for an Admin password here, so make sure you have it handy before trying this step). Scroll to the ‘Homegroup Provider' service under the ‘Name' column and make sure "Started" appears  under the ‘Status' column. If it doesn't, double click the ‘Homegroup Provider' entry, click the ‘Start' button, and click 'OK'. Repeat this process for the ‘Peer Networking Grouping' service.

Windows is unable to install important updates:

Solution:  In most cases, the Win7 update process is seamless as it downloads and installs Important updates in the background. However, the OS occasionally encounters problems With the update process and cannot install certain updates. If this happens, try manually Updating by clicking ‘Start', clicking ‘All Programs', and clicking ‘Windows Update'. In the left pane, click ‘Check For Updates', and then click ‘Install Updates' after Windows Finds the important update (or updates) it was previously unable to install. Note that some Updates require you to accept the Microsoft Software License Terms, so be sure to Accept the terms to ensure a successful update installation.

Some updates can require a hefty amount of hard drive capacity, so Windows might have Problems if your primary hard drive is running low on space. If you have 500MB or less Of drive space left, run ‘Disk Cleanup' in the ‘Search' box, and press ‘Enter'. Select Your primary drive (usually C:) in the dropdown menu and click ‘OK'. Follow the Instructions to delete unnecessary files.

Win7 returns a message that access is denied when you try to open a file or folder:

Solution:  If Windows prevents you from opening a file or folder, check that you have Permission to open it. ‘Right click' the file or folder, click ‘Properties', choose the ‘Security' tab, and click ‘Users' under ‘Group Or User Names'. Under ‘Permissions', you'll see the permissions for ‘Users' (as opposed to Administrators) for that particular file or folder. If ‘Read' and/or ‘Write' are not selected under ‘Allow', you'll need to log in with an administrator account to access the file or folder or have the administrator of that computer change the permissions for the file or folder. If you have an admin account, you can choose to change the permissions yourself for your user account. To do so, choose ‘Users', click ‘Edit' on the ‘Security' tab, click to select the appropriate permissions, and click ‘OK'.

Win7 prevents you from logging in to your computer because your user account Is locked out:

Solution:  If someone tries to log in to your account too many times when using an Invalid password, Win7 will lock the account. Assuming you have a separate admin Account (and it is highly recommended that you do for security purposes), you can Log in to Windows using that administrator account and unlock the user account.

Click ‘Start', type ‘lusrmgr.msc' in the ‘Search' box, and press ‘Enter' to launch The ‘Local Users And Groups' utility. Click to select the ‘Users' entry in the left pane, And double click the locked account in the right pane. On the ‘General' tab, click To deselect ‘Account Is Locked Out', click ‘OK', close the ‘Local Users And Group' utility, and log out of Windows . Log back in using the user account.

Win7 does not start after being in Sleep Mode:

Solution:  Microsoft's latest OS includes a wealth of power saving options, but they Don't always work as designed, especially when the OS is paired with certain Motherboards. If Win7 refuses to start after being in Sleep Mode, you can tweak The power options to prevent Win7 from sleeping. Reboot your computer and Open the ‘Control Panel', select ‘System And Security', open ‘Power Options'. Next to your selected ‘Power Plan' (for example, Balanced), click ‘Change Plan Settings', select ‘Never' in the drop down menu beside ‘Put The Computer To Sleep', and then click ‘Change Advanced Power Settings'. Click to expand the ‘Sleep' entry, click to expand the ‘Allow Hybrid Sleep' entry, click ‘On', and change the setting in the drop down menu to ‘Off'. Click ‘OK'.

If you want your computer to go to sleep after a certain period, this solution will Serve only as a work around. Because this problem is often related to outdated Motherboard software, check your motherboard manufacturer's Web site for A BIOS (Basic Input/Output) update.

You're unable to print from a printer connected to your homegroup:

Solution:  First, check that the printer is plugged in and turned on. Next, make Sure that the person who connected the printer to the homegroup didn't change The sharing settings, because if the printer is no longer shared, you won't have Access to it through the homegroup. If the printer is active and being shared Through the homegroup, try printing directly to the printer from the computer To which it is connected. If the printer doesn't print from the host computer, You'll need to troubleshoot  the printer connection instead of the homegroup Issue. If none of these steps work, try rebooting both the host computer and Your computer. You can also try leaving the homegroup and rejoining.

You cannot open or copy files from the Web:

Solution:  Win7 is serious about security because plenty of threats exist on the Internet. Traditionally, Microsoft has been the lowest flying fruit for crackers And cybercriminals. When Win7 security controls are set too strictly, they Can prevent you from accessing files on the Web. To fix this problem, click ‘Start', type ‘Internet Options' in the ‘Search' box, and press ‘Enter'. Choose the ‘Security' tab, select the ‘Internet' zone, and move the slider under ‘Security Level For This Zone' to a lower level. For example, if the slider is set to ‘High', move it to ‘Medium High'. Click ‘OK when finished.

If you're still having problems opening or copying Web files after changing this Level, move the security slider to a lower level. If this problem is occurring Only with a particular site, return to the ‘Security' tab in the ‘Internet Properties' dialog box and click the ‘Trusted Sites' zone. Next, click the ‘Sites' Button , copy the site's URL to the ‘Add This Website To The Zone' field, Click ‘Add', click ‘Close', and click ‘OK'.

How To Prevent Unauthorized Access To Data On Your Computer

Unauthorized access refers to invading someone’s computer without permission. It may happen if you leave your workstation unlocked, if you have defenseless access to the internet as well as from viruses and malware. To protect the privacy of your data, you should always adopt some preventive measures, irrespective of the operating system that you are using.

Users today are aware of password protection that is mandatory for their systems and wireless networks. Despite, cyber rogues can access your private data. There are certain security loopholes that are lesser known to common users and are thus exploited by cyber criminals to gain access to your system.

This article elaborates five different measures that you should adopt to prevent unauthorized access to your system or network:

1. Do not ignore security patches:

Windows users often tend to ignore the security updates that keep popping up in between work. They contain security patches that are updated periodically to ensure better protection of your data. Updates are required because there are certain susceptibilities in the OS and browsers that are used by hackers to invade your computer. In order to avoid hacking, you are advised to install those updates to apply security patches that can bypass security loopholes. Windows users should download Windows/Antivirus updates without fail. To save time, you can turn on the Automatic Updates. Windows updates consist of security patches that are programmed by Microsoft for their OS, browsers and software.

2. Surfing the internet? Be careful while using the file sharing feature:

When your system is on a Local Area Network (LAN) and file-sharing is set to unlimited number of users, you are recommended to disable this feature all together. Sharing files and folders only with systems that belong to people you know. Keeping it unspecific can make your system an easy target of rogues for injecting malware or obtaining your personal data.

3. Always keep the Firewall ‘On’:

Firewall acts as a protective wall between your machine and the internet. All the data that is exchanged between a computer and the server are tracked and scrutinized by the firewall before it is sent across. It can pop up warning messages if it senses some unsafe data that is being directed to your system. Potential threats like virus, malware and spyware can be stopped to a certain limit by the firewall. It is also designed to prevent illegitimate access to your computer.

Malicious programs can invade your system and can carry data outside. In such cases, Windows firewall is capable of alerting the users before data is actually sent out from the computer.

4. Take caution while reading e-mails:

E-mail security sounds obvious but it is not something that users can afford to neglect. Never open e-mail attachment from unknown sources. It is an old and existing practice to send virus and malware through e-mail attachments that can expose data on your system to cyber rogues.

5. Keep online backup of all your data:

An infected computer is never safe for browsing important data. It can further worsen the situation by sending data to unauthorized users or rendering the system permanently useless. Keep a copy of all your confidential data on the websites that provide online data storage services. These sites store data on the server for users. These offer unlimited space in lieu of a monthly subscription. They are trustworthy and data is stored safely on the server. You can access and recover them by logging in with a username and password from any machine.

In case you do not want to leave data in the hands of a third-party website, you can also opt for System recovery function on Windows. This feature restores your system to its original state prior to getting affected by virus. If you feel that someone is misusing your data from the computer, you can do a ‘System Recovery’ to restore it. Users can also opt for this function if there is any other disorder within the system.

Data security is a perpetual concern for computer users, especially for those who use the internet day-in and day-out. Barely locking your machine with a password of your user account is not enough. You should change the password once in a fortnight. Besides, you are advised to implement the preventive measures discussed in this article for better protection. If you are using a wireless network, secure it with a password. Encrypt the necessary folders and drives as per your requirement. For further knowledge on data security, you can refer to the various discussion forums and how-to guides on the internet.
